Pontiac, Mich. — Duo Security and Security Vitals have joined to provide Duo’s two-factor authentication (2FA) technology to current and future Security Vitals customers, making implementation and use of 2FA easier for IT administrators and end-users alike. As a significant step in the 7 Key Steps to Achieving NIST 800-171 Compliance by Dec. 31, this partnership will serve a major role in fulfilling the two-factor authentication requirement.
Manufacturers working with the Department of Defense (DoD), General Services Administration (GSA) or NASA are required to reach NIST 800-171 compliance by the Dec. 31 deadline. Security Vitals and Duo’s program will help protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) from being accessed by unauthorized individuals and organizations. If compliance is not met, companies are at high risk of losing government contracts and jobs.
“We are pleased to have Security Vitals join our progressively growing managed service provider program,” said Matt Smith, Duo Vice President of Worldwide Channels. “Regardless of the industry you play in, implementing 2FA is a big step in remaining compliant with regulations such as PCI, HIPPA and NIST, an undertaking we’re proud to help organizations achieve.”
According to Duo, 2FA strengthens access security by requiring two methods (also referred to as factors) to verify identity. These factors can include something a user knows – such as a username and password, plus something the user has – such as a smartphone app to approve authentication requests.
This additional step in the login process secures the company’s data from being accessed by unauthorized users.
“Security Vitals understands the need for efficient, stress-free programs. That’s why we partnered with Duo, a company who emphasizes no agents to install and no tokens to manage. They hold the same values we do—dedication to customers’ needs, and we take care of the ‘little,’ yet important stuff,” said Rob Cote, Chief Executive Officer of Security Vitals.
This partnership aims to make the process of becoming NIST compliant for Security Vitals customers as smooth as possible.
